Extracts from my book OS CRIAS

« Os Crias » attempts to shed light on the relation of children, living in different favelas in Rio de Janeiro, with the violence surrounding them. It addresses the subject from a personal aspect, having its sources from family stories and experiences. This documentary book evokes the Brazilian political, social and police brutality issues from a critical view. The project connects different image typologies and texts, and the participatory facet is also highlighted.

This series, created in 2021 for @lausanne_sport, attempts to show another side of the life of a professional footballer. By following Alvyn Sanches in his daily life, a contrast between his reality and the fantasized, heroic figure of the footballer becomes perceptible. Aged 18 at the time, we realize that a professional footballer can also be a teenager like any other.

Cette série, créée en 2021 pour le @lausanne_sport, essaie de montrer un autre aspect de la vie d’un footballeur professionnel. En suivant Alvyn Sanches dans son quotidien, un contraste entre sa réalité et la figure fantasmée et héroïque du footballeur devient perceptible. Âgé de 18 ans à l’époque, nous nous rendons compte qu’un footballeur professionnel peut également être un adolescent comme tous les autres.

This project was a collaboration with the members of the organisation « Metis’Arte » in Lausanne. « Metis'Arte » is a non-profit organisation, active in the field of equal opportunities, social inclusion and human rights, offering local artistic projects for children, adolescents and adults. From a multicultural perspective, Métis’Arte encourages expression, self-confidence and the acceptance of differences.

I worked for their project « Realis'Arte », which is the result of an encounter between different cultures and a collaboration between social and artistic professionals. The members of the organisation are in social integration measures.
Most members are immigrant people, but Realis'Arte welcomes anyone who is unsuitable for job placement, for example Swiss people suffering from burn-out, etc.

The organisation is part of the Bureau Lausannois pour les immigrés (BLI).

Ce projet était une collaboration avec l’association « Metis’Arte ». Metis’Arte est une association à but non-lucratif, active dans le domaine de l’égalité de chances, l’inclusion sociale et les droits humains, proposant des projets de proximité et artistiques pour enfants, adolescents et adultes. Depuis une perspective multiculturelle, Métis’Arte encourage l’expression, la confiance en soi et l’accueil des différences.

J’ai travaillé pour leur projet « Realis’Arte », qui est le fruit d’une rencontre entre différentes cultures et d’une collaboration entre des professionnels du social et du milieu artistique. Les membres de l’association sont en mesure d’insertion sociale.
La plupart des membres sont des personnes immigrées, mais Realis’Arte accueille toute personne non-apte au placement, par exemple des personnes suisses qui ont fait des burn-outs, etc.

L’association fait partie du Bureau Lausannois pour les immigrés (BLI).

This documentary, started in 2017, attempts to show a positive and more vibrant side of the Bourdonnette neighborhood of Lausanne. This neighborhood is well known urban community, populated mostly by diverse migrant ethnicities. Unfortunately, it has been, and still is, associated with negative stereotypes.

Having spent my childhood playing in the nearby neighborhood of Prélaz, it was important to me to showcase its hidden beauty.

The connection between its people, their cultural diversity, the “lils” and the “bigs“, their strong sense of identity and pride of belonging are all elements I wanted to capture through my photography.

Ce documentaire, débuté en 2017, tente de montrer le quartier de la Bourdonnette sous un regard positif, malgré la mauvaise réputation et certains préjugés existant encore à son égard.

Ayant moi-même passé mon enfance et adolescence à fréquenter le quartier voisin Prélaz, c’est une thématique qui me tenait à coeur.

Cette proximité entre les gens, le mélange des cultures, les « petits » et les « grands du quartier », l’ambiance vivante de celui-ci, son identité et la fierté d’appartenir à un endroit sont tous des éléments que j’ai voulu partager à travers ces photos.
